FTTP NETWORK BUILD IN KIDSGROVE

Project Overview

Lightspeed Networks commissioned a full-fibre network build in Kidsgrove, Staffordshire. The TNS delivery team, whose work is represented here under FDNS, supported an XGS-PON deployment designed to extend fibre connectivity across the community. The project combined existing Openreach infrastructure with new construction where the available routes required it.

Project Proposal

The turnkey scope brought together PIA duct and pole survey coordination, route validation, traffic management and permitting, new duct and chamber works, fibre installation, splicing and splitter integration. Delivery planning coordinated these activities through to commissioning. OTDR and optical loss testing supported quality checks, with installation records and handover information assembled for the Ready for Service process.

Project Outcome

The programme delivered 8,792 premises passed and validated as Ready for Service. Existing ducts and poles, supplemented by new infrastructure, provided the physical network routes. Test evidence and controlled handover records supported commissioning and future maintenance. Premises passed is a network coverage measure; it should not be read as the number of customers connected or actively subscribing.
